Situations
1.
Let’s talk about family. What role does it play in your life?
The
family is very important as a unit in our society. Nothing else but family can
be an emotional center of people’s life. Every mother feels great affection for
her children and tries to bring them up in a proper way. Understanding between
the members of the family and consideration for others are very important in
family relationship. Tenderness, warm-heartedness and respect must always be
present in the family to make it friendly. A lot of activities help members of
the family to be on friendly terms: discussing all the family plans together,
going on trips hikes together, visiting museums, theatres, exhibitions and
exchanging opinions about them, sharing the same joys and sorrows.
2.Are
you on god terms with your parents and grandparents?
Frankly
speaking I’m on good terms with my parents and grandparents. We don’t have such
problems as misunderstanding between the members of the family. I think that it
is due to the age of my parents and their character.
3.What
will you ask a British teenager about his/her family?
Have
you got a big family? Have you got any family traditions? Do you like to spend
your free time with your family?
4.What
can you advise people who want to get on well with their parents?
I
can advise for anyone to try to understand the feelings of your parents and
show respect to them. Even if you don’t agree with their thinking , try to make
them understand politely, don’t use harsh words with them which may hurt.
5.Nowerdays
an average family has one child. From your point of view, how many children
should there be in a family?
It’s
sad that families are getting smaller these days. To my mind there should be
two or three children in a family. You will never feel lonely in a big family.
My friend
I think that friendship is very
important in our life. I believe that a person can’t live without friends. They
say that a friend in need is a friend indeed. I think it is really so. A good
friend is a friend who always wants to do something useful for you, who can
give good advice, who can keep secrets.
As for me I have many friends.
We spend much time together, going out to the cinema or to the disco parties,
speaking about lessons and music, discussing our problems.
Now I’d like to tell you some
words about my best friend. His name is ________. His surname is ________. He
is __ years old. _______ was born on the ___ of ______ in 19____ .
He is a pupil. _______ studies
in the ___th form and he goes to school Number ___. I think that he is a
hardworking person. His favourite subjects are English and especially
Informatics. He uses his computer very often. May be, Informatics will be a
part of his future career.
He likes his family very much.
It’s not very big — his mother and his father. They all are great friends and
deeply attached to each other _________ likes reading. He prefers to read
science fiction. His favourite book is __________.
He likes music and he prefers to
listen to rock music. And his favourite bands are _________, __________.
Besides, he plays the guitar very well.
_______ also goes in for sports.
He is good at swimming. He visits a swimming–pool 3 times a week. _______
believes that only sport makes people healthy, active and forms a character.
And as for his character he is
cheerful, honest, and sociable. He doesn’t respect rude, selfish and foolish
people. It’s interesting for him to live, to open new things.
So, I like my friend very much. I think he is a true friend. Our
friendship is very dear to me and I try to be a good friend too.

Dialogues

Mandy: I think I’d like to have one of the caring
professions when I live school?
Ken: What do you mean, “caring professions”?
Mandy: Oh, you know, nursing or social work.
Looking after old people. That sort of thing.
Ken: What made you think of that as a job all of
a sudden? You wanted to be a TV presenter last week. Or was it a lab
technician? Oh, no, that was last month. Last week it was brick-laying, wasn’t
it?
Mandy: Don’t tease me about it. I can’t decide what
I want to do with my life.
Ken: You needn’t worry about it. It’s not easy to
get a job when you leave school.
Mandy: No seriously, I took this book from the
Careers’ Library at school…”Because of a large numbers of old people in our
society, social workers, nurses and health visitors spend more and more of
their time helping old people and their families…and in particular it is “young
blood” which the profession wants. The work has its rewards. By caring for old
people you will make THEM feel important and needed. We cannot just forget
about old people who need help. Looking after them is everyone’s concern.” You
see!
Ken: Mandy, when did you go to see your
grandparents?
Mandy: I hate going and sitting in their stuffy old
flat full of cats and old photographs…and grandfather goes on and on talking
about the war and how good the things were when he was young.
Ken: You see. Forget about the caring profession.

haven’t made up my mind yet. I want to do some practical job. I don’t want to
spend all my time studying.
-What
kind of job would you like to have?
-I’d
like to be a secretary or a salesgirl. What do you think of it?

have to take a course in typing if you want to be a secretary.
-That’s
what I’m going to do next year.
Situations
1.
Let’s talk about
different types of houses. Tell me about the house/flat you live in.
There are different
types of houses: a detached house, a semidetached house, a terraced house, a
block of flats. A detached house includes a cottage, a bungalow, a mansion. All
of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
As for me I live in a
block of flats. It’s a nine-storeyed building made of blocks. The location of
the house is very convenient. It’s quite far from the road so it’s not noisy.
There are several shops, a school, a kindergarten, a petrol station in the
area. It’s very handy.
We live in a three-room
flat on the ground floor. The flat has all modern conveniences: electricity,
gas, cold and hot running water, central heating, radio, telephone and the Net.
There is a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a lavatory, a hall
and a balcony in our flat.
2.
Where would you like to
live: in a city or in the country? Why (not)?
I would like to live in
the city. I got used to have all modern appliances in my flat, it’s more
comfortable than living in the country.
3.
What questions will you
ask your parents about the flat/house your family is going to move into?
How many rooms are there
in that house? Will I have my own room?
4.
Your friend wants to decorate
his/her room. Give him/her some advice on how to furnish it.
I wouldn’t recommend to
overcrowd the room with the furniture. There are should be everything that is
necessary. In this case you’ll have enough space and air in your room. Besides
it’s easier to clean such rooms. But the most important thing about the design
of any room is to make it cosy.
5.
They say that the room
in which you live reflects your character and personality. What do you think
about this idea?
Some people think that
one’s home is as much a reflection of his personality, as the clothes he wears,
the food he eats, the friends he spends his time with. I agree that many homes
reflect the ways of life and habits of their owners. In my view to live
comfortably doesn’t mean to live in luxury in a detached house which is well
furnished and nicely decorated. Good housing conditions are very important for
creating a good quality of life. But I’m convinced that all these things are
not so important as the relaxing friendly atmosphere at home.
“My flat”
I live in …street. Our flat is on the fifth floor. It is very
comfortable and has all modern conveniences, such as central heating,
electricity, gas, cold and hot running water, a telephone and the Internet.
There are three rooms in our flat: a lounge, a study and a bedroom. We also
have a kitchen, a bathroom and a small entrance hall.
Our lounge is the largest in the flat. It is well furnished. There is a
wall-unit, a wardrobe, a settee and two comfy chairs in the lounge. There is
also a bookcase and a small table for newspapers. In the opposite corner there
is a huge plasma TV-set. There is a beautiful chandelier on the ceiling, a
thick carpet on the floor and curtains on the windows. All this makes the room
cosy.
I spend most of my time in my bedroom, which I use as a study too. There
is a writing table where I do my homework and a computer. Near the wall there
is a pull-out sofa. Here I sleep at night and have a rest in the day-time.
There are some book-shelves and a carpet on the floor.
My parents’ bedroom is a little bit larger than the study. There are two
beds, a mirror-stand, two bedside tables and a wardrobe there.
Our kitchen is not very large. There is a set of white and black kitchen
furniture, a gas-stove, a microwave, a sink, a fridge and a cupboard where we
keep our cups and dishes. The kitchen serves us as a dining-room. But when we
receive guests we have meals in the living-room.
In the bathroom we have a nice mirror, a bath-tub and a shower. There is
a shelf above the basin where we keep soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes,
shampoos, etc.
We try to make our flat clean.
I can say a lot about my flat. But to make a long story short, I must
say, there is no place like home. Speaking about our home I don’t mean a flat
as it is. I mean people who are dear to me, who love me and are always waiting
for me. That’s why wherever I were I would always hurry home.

• a new school uniform
• one hour lunch break
• one day off school to study on your own
• one more PE (Physical Education) class.
Discuss their strong and weak points with your friend and choose the one both of you think should be introduced first.
’Have you heard that our
school authorities are planning to introduce the following changes? What
do you think of it?’
’Well, I like changes
but I don’t think that a new school uniform is the best
decision.’
’Why? A new uniform may
look more stylish.’
’To begin with, I don’t
like the idea of a school uniform because I can’t stand wearing
the same clothes all the time. When we wear a uniform, we lose
our individuality. I’m sure that many students hate the uniform style
as well, so a new design won’t make any difference.’
’I can’t agree with you, I am
afraid. When we wear a uniform, you don’t have to think about
what to put on. Besides, lots of pupils are often teased because
they don’t wear expensive designer clothes to school. So those
students whose parents can’t afford stylish clothes will feel more
comfortable.’
’Perhaps, you are right, but
don’t forget about those students whose old uniform is still in good
condition. It will be a waste of money for them.’
’Yes, I agree with you.
What about an hour lunch break? It seems like a good idea
because we could have time to go for a walk or just
to relax talking with friends. And those students who live close to school
will be able to have lunch at home. What’s your opinion?’
’I’m not sure about
it because classes will be over too late and we will get back
home too tired. Besides, it’s unlikely that we will be allowed
to leave the school at lunch break.’
’In this case, we can
do part of our homework and have more free time after classes.’
’I don’t
think that it’s a good idea because it may be too noisy during
the break and you can easily get distracted. In my opinion, such
a long break is a waste of time. I’d rather have one day
off school to study on my own. We’ll have enough time
to study the subjects we are really interested in.’
’I doubt that many students will
be for it because in this case we’ll have seven or eight
classes a day.’
’Well, we could have
shorter breaks so we wouldn’t have to stay so long.’
’I’m afraid we will have
much more homework to do and will be completely exhausted
by the weekend. Anyway, not all students are eager to study
as much as you do.’
’That’s right. Why don’t
we have one more PE class then? PE classes are sort
of relaxation during a difficult day. In addition, it will
help us to keep fit.’
’Great idea! Health
is very important for us. Good health is above wealth. Besides,
if we have one more PE class, we’ll be able
to do a greater variety of sports activities.’
’You are right! Our
PE teacher is very good and his classes are always exciting. Perhaps,
we’ll even be able to go to the swimming pool.’
’I totally
agree with you. One more PE class is the best choice for us.’
Education, school
1.
Let’s talk about
education. What can you tell me about the system of education in Belarus ?
Children in Belarus start
school at the age of 6 or 7. They study 4 years at primary school and then they
move to secondary school. Bright pupils take exams and go to gymnasium. After
the 9th grade schoolchildren take exams and can stay at the same
school for two more years to complete the secondary education or they go to
colleges or lytheums.
After the eleventh grade
schoolchildren take school-leaving exams. They have to sit centralized testing
to study at university.
Most schools in Belarus are comprehensive,
non-selective and free.
A school year lasts from
the first of September to the end of May. It is divided into four terms and
vacations. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes
2.
School uniform isn’t
necessary. Do you share this opinion?
I
can’t say that I fully agree with this. In my opinion a comfortable school
uniform is a good idea. It can save parents’ money and your time in the morning
when you think what to wear for school. On the other hand I’m sure that
practical casual clothes can’t do any harm to pupils’ studies.
3.
Do you agree that our
school gives a person a good start in life? Why (not)?
Yes,
I fully agree with this. At school we learn to do a lot of practical things. We
learn to read, to count, to write. We get such practical skills as working on
the computer, writing essays, doing experiments, speaking a foreign language.
Moreover we learn how to make friends, to work in a team, to be responsible.
4.
Ask me about my school
life.
When do children start
school in your country?
When
do they finish school?
How
long is your school year?
What
vacations do you have?
How
long do the lessons last?
Do
you wear a school uniform?
How
many foreign languages do you learn?
What
is your favourite subject?
Have
you got any clubs in your school?
5.
You are talking with a
British student. What would you advise him/her to do to prepare for an exam
well?
You should do homework
regularly.
You
mustn’t skip the lessons.
You
should be attentive and active at the lessons.
You
should keep your notes and exercise-books in order.
You’d
better plan your working days.
Ask
for help if you have problems.
It’s
good for you to have a healthy diet and to spend some time outside.
Use
cards, stickers to remember important words or dates.
Don’t
panic if you don’t understand something.
Set
goals and try to achieve them.
6.
Do you agree that your
school not only provides students with good knowledge, but also offers
different kind of out-of-class activities?
Yes, I fully agree with
this. Our school offers different out-of-class activities: such as school
trips, excursions, parties, concerts, school subjects weeks and Olympiads.
There is a number of
school clubs and societies to meet the interests of each pupil. They offer
opportunities to develop different talents and skills. As for me I’m a member
of Web design club. Here we learn to make web pages with text, graphics, video,
music. We learn to make photo albums using Photoshop and Power Point presentation.
There are also sports clubs, Brain teaser club, music and dances clubs.

Dialogues
Hi,
guys. Please, introduce yourselves.
B:
I’m Lee, I’m 15. I’ve been cheering since I was little! I’m a high school
cheerleader.
G:
My name is Mary, I am now 16, and in 9th grade. I cheer for the Jr.
High Boys’ basketball games.
Let’s
start from the very beginning. How did you get into cheerleading?
B:
I wanted to be a cheerleader because I was always a cheerer. Before I was a
cheerleader I yelled from the stands. I finally decided to tryout and become a
part of something great. I love the excitement of competitions and the speaker
yelling, XPA all starts 1st place!
G:
When I was younger I wanted to be a cheerleader mostly because my babysitter
and role model was a cheerleader but not only that, when I went to high school
football games or basketball games when I was little and saw the cheerleaders
do their dance there was something unique about the way they acted towards each
other they weren’t just friends they were cheer sisters and I wanted superstar
girls like that to be my friends as well.
What
qualities does it take to be a cheerleader?
G:
Cheerleading takes an extreme amount of physical work as well as practice. Most
cheerleaders practice an average of 8 hours a week. Cheerleaders have to be in
top physical condition. In addition, they are advised to take a variety of
dance classes including jazz, hip hop, and ballet.
I’d
like to share one of those funny stories that happen during the competitions.
G:
Well, it’s not really a competition story. The 9th grade boys make
fun of me and all the others for being cheerleaders. They find it stupid. I
told them to watch our routine cause we were amazing. So they did come to see
us dance. Our dance routine was superb, the jumps were done perfectly. At the
end, we got into our end poses, which were really beautiful. But suddenly one
girl doing the scorpion move fell over on top of the girl doing the splits! She
couldn’t get up, either! The other one in the scorpion position lost her
balance and almost fell on the top of them both. All the basketball players
were laughing and started making fun of us even more!
B:
I was standing on the track at a game and when everyone else turned right I
turned left! Another time the same game I couldn’t hear anything because of the
fans shouting so I started yelling the wrong cheer and everyone started
laughing!
What
lessons have you learned from cheerleading?
G:
I’ve learned that, together we work, together we fall, we work as a team or we
don’t work at all.
B:
To me when you are a cheerleader you need to be exactly what the name says, a
leader. When you are a cheerleader you need to set good examples for your peers
and represent the school, team and your country.
What
advice can you give to those who have just started?
B:
Don’t give up, be serious and focused on what you’re doing. Every moment counts
and you may not notice a change but it will happen.
Situations
1.
Today young people take
an active part in the social life of the country. What youth organisations do
you know?
There are a lot of youth
organisations in Belarus .
The most authoritative of them are: the Belarusian Republican Youth Union
(BRSM), the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organisation, the Association of
Belarusian Scouts, the Belarusian Organisation of Falcons, the Belarusian
National Scout Organisation, the Association of Belarusian Guides, etc. The
aforementioned organisations take an active part in formation of the basis of
the state policy in respect of youth. These activities are managed and directed
by the State Committee on the Affairs of Youth.
The most numerous youth
organization in our country is the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM).
2.
Have you ever taken part
in an interesting international event? Why/why not?
Unfortunately, I’ve
never taken part in any international event. But I hope one day I’ll have such
a possibility.
3.
What questions can you
ask about the recent event organized by the BRSM?
When did you organize
the last event by the BRSM?
How many young people
took place in that event?

the results of this company?
4.
What campaign would you
recommend to start? Why?
I would recommend you to
start the campaign Education Free for Everybody.
5.
Not all young people in Belarus have
joined youth organisations. What stops them?
Unfortunately that’s
true. I don’t know exactly why it happens, may be young people are not active
and a little bit lazy. They are addicted to computers, the Internet, mobile
phones and have no desire to take an active part in the social life of the
country.
Project.
Youth organizations
It’s quite
natural that young people want to socialize with their equals so as to express
their views on several political and social issues. They join youth
organizations and societies. The main aim of these organizations is to involve
young people into socially useful activities such as sporting events,
volunteering at hospitals, taking care of war veterans, assisting the old and
the handicapped, carrying out some ecological projects and doing other things.
There are a lot of youth organizations in
Belarus. The most authoritative of them are: the Belarusian
Republican Youth Union (BRSM), the Belarusian Republican
Pioneer Organization, the Association of Belarusian Scouts, the Belarusian
Organizations of Falcons, the Belarusian National Scout Organization, the
Association of Belarusian Guides, etc.
At the same time
there are a lot of informal youth movements that want to express themselves in
different ways. Usually they are organized on the base of common interests or
preferences in music styles or in arts priorities.
·
I joined the Belarusian Republican Youth Union
(BRSM) some years ago. It is a youth organization in Belarus. Its goals are to promote patriotism and to instill moral valuesinto the youth of Belarus, to unite patriotically thinking young people for active participation
in the construction of a society of social justice and progress using
activities such as camping, sporting events and visiting memorials. The
organization was created after a merger of other youth groups in 2002 and is
the successor of the Leninist Communist Youth League of the Byelorussian SSR. The BRSM is the
largest youth group in Belarus and is supported by the Belarusian government.
The main objectives of the organization are as follows:
-
to express, defend and realize the rights and legal interests of its members;
-
to form the world outlook, based on moral and spiritual, as well as Christian,
values;
-
to foster patriotism as the main spiritual and social value;
-
to express devotion to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, to the
country, its people and its state symbols;
- to give assistance to every member
of the organization in his spiritual, intellectual and physical development and
in realization of his abilities and creative potential;
–
to take part in preparation of young people for the defense
of their motherland.
The Belarusian Republican Youth
Union and its members accomplish their goals and objectives in the
following activities:
- they participate in formation of youth policy
and put it into practice;
- they support the initiatives of the youth,
directed at self-perfection and all-round development of their
individual abilities;
- they help young people to become integrated
members of society;
- they elaborate and accomplish different
educational, social and other youth programs which do not contradict
the present legislation of the republic of Belarus;
- they render assistance in finding employment;
- they promote international youth co-operation;
- they attract the attention of the mass media
and the bodies of state power to the problems and initiatives of the youth;
- they organize conferences, meetings, lectures,
exhibitions, concerts for young people; etc.
ORGANIZATION
The BRSM national headquarters is located in Minsk, the national capital of
Belarus. Each voblast of Belarus—Minsk, Brest, Vitsebsk, Homiel, Grodno and Mogilev—has its own branches of the BRSM. The BRSM has estimated that it
has 6803 branches located inside Belarus.
The national leadership of the BRSM is controlled
by the central committee, which is headed by the first secretary of the central
committee. Below the first secretary are the second secretary of the central
committee, the chairman of the central investigation commission, and three
secretaries of the central committee. Collectively, these leaders are also
referred to as the secretariat of the BRSM.
While the exact yearly and total funding of the
BRSM are not known, the majority of funds given to the BRSM are given by the
national government.
SYMBOLS
The BRSM has two official symbols: an emblem and a flag. The emblem, which is based on the Komsomol badge and modeled on
the Belarusian national flag, has a red bar bearing the initials of
the BRSM, written in gold in Cyrillic, over a green
bar bearing a golden olive branch.
The flag of the BRSM has the same elements as the
emblem, but the reverse of the flag bears the organization’s full name in gold
(in Russian) in the red section, with the green section unemblazoned.
MEMBERSHIP
In order to join the BRSM, the applicant must be between the ages
of 14 and 31 and must send a photo of himself or herself. If the
applicant is between the ages of 14 and 16 written permission from a parent or legal guardian must be granted.
A person must also pay a one-time fee. Members of
the BRSM have certain rights and duties and they can leave the organization at
their own free will.
ACTIVITIES
Most of the BRSM’s activities are similar to those that were
performed by the Soviet Komsomol. The main activities of the BRSM involve the promotion of
Belarusian patriotism. This is accomplished by participating in wreath-laying ceremonies at various
memorials around the country. BRSM members also pass out flowers to veterans of
the Great Patriotic War (World War II) to honor their service during the national holiday Den Pobedy (Day of Victory). Both the memorial visits and the flowers for the
veterans give BRSM members an idea of what sacrifices their ancestors made.
During other national holidays, the BRSM passes out a ribbon that resembles the
national flag of Belarus, to be worn on a shirt or jacket. This program, along
with other events, is part of its “For Belarus!” (Russian: За Беларусь!)
campaign.
The BRSM participates in outdoor activities and
sports, including football, running,
swimming and hockey. Some of these athletic events involve different groups
from inside Belarus or from neighboring countries, such as Russia, Ukraine or Latvia. BRSM members
also participate in competitions amongst themselves or with other foreign
groups that are similar to the BRSM.

Dina: Hi, Adam. How are you?
Adam: Hi, Dina. I'm fine, thank you. And you?
Dina: I'm very well, thanks. What are your plans for tomorrow?
Adam: I haven't planned anything, yet. As soon as the school lessons finish, I'm free. Do you want to suggest anything?
Dina: Yes, I wanted to suggest going to the city museum. I've never been there, but my mum says this place is worth visiting.
Adam: Sounds good. I'm all for it! Let's visit the museum. I've also never been there.
Dina: Are you a fan of art? There is also an art gallery on the second floor?
Adam: I like contemporary art of young and yet infamous artists, but there are some world-famous artists whose work I respect. For example, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, etc.
Dina: I see. You are lucky, then. The city museum has several exhibition halls which feature classic art and modern compositions.
Adam: Great! We should definitely go there. And who is your favourite artist?
Dina: Most of all I like the art works of Ivan Aivazovsky, but they are kept either in Tretyakov Gallery or in Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Some of his works are kept in Feodosia in the house where he used to live.
Adam: Well, that means we won't be asle to see his works unless we go to Moscow or in Crimea.
Dina: You're right. | |
(At the museum) | |
Dina: Hello. What time does the museum close?
Museum worker: we are open till 6 pm.

Adam: Thanks for inviting me to join you. I like this place.
Dina: It's closing in half an hour. We need to be quick.
Adam: It's a shame. There are still so many halls to explore. I really liked the hall of sculptures. We should come here again.
Dina: We'll do. I want to spend a bit more time in front of each object. The audio-guide tells so many interesting facts.
Adam: Let's turn left, Dina. There is the hall of modern art. I'd like to learn more about contemporary artists and their style.
Dina: You seem to be a real fan of modern art, don't you?
Adam: I am, indeed. Let's visit the museum and art galleries more often.
Dina: Next weekend there is a new exhibition at this museum. We can come here again.
Adam: Sounds great Let's do that. |
Art
Our world has become a very visual one – we have
art all around us. Understanding art is understanding our world! A good first
step is to try to understand what we mean by art. The arts are a great
subdivision of culture. It is a broader term than art, which usually means only
the visual arts.
The arts include visual arts, literary arts and the performing arts,
like music, theatre, and film. If you ask people in
the street what art is, paintings and statues are common answers. But actually
it’s more than that. The types of visual art include architecture, animation,
collage, comics, design, drawing, graffiti, illustration, installation art,
photography, painting and sculpture. In Leo Tolstoy’s opinion, art at the time was much more than the good, truth, andbeauty.
According to him, art must create an emotional link between artist and
audience, one that “infects” the viewer. Some researchers believe that art is
actually about communicating the feelings of the artists.
Art plays a large part in making our lives
infinitely rich. Art makes us laugh or cry, calm down or start shouting. It is
something that makes us more thoughtful and well-balanced humans.
Art is form and content. Form means the elements
of art, the principles of design and the actual, physical materials that the
artist has used. Content is idea-based and means what the artist meant to say,
what the artist actually did say and how we react, as individuals, to the
author’s messages.
The world of art is really fascinating. It is the
world of fine artists and sculptors, art historians and critic curators, designers
and photographers.
We can enjoy masterpieces of both old and modern
art in such world famous museums as the Louvre (Paris), the British Museum and
the National Gallery (London), the State Hermitage (St. Petersburgh), the
Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the Prado Museum (Madrid) and many others.
A lot of young people enjoy graffiti – the so
called street art, though some older people consider it to be illegal and ugly.
I think we have to accept it as part of our lives. A lot of companies use
graffiti imagery to promote their things.
As for me, not long ago I got interested in
modern art (abstract art). I got enchanted by the flying shapes and colourful
patterns of the works by Mark Chagal, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Jackson
Pollock, Kazimir Malevich. Understanding abstract art is easy: all it requires
is an open mind and a big imagination. You have to open up your intuition to
see where the painting takes you. Abstract art allows the viewer to decide what
the artwork is about, on a very personal level. Abstract art is open to
interpretation, and that is one of the beautiful things about it!
